Daredevil: Born Again, Disney

The days of Marvel pumping out tons of projects a year are probably gone, but Daredevil: Born Again is creeping close to a record that harkens back to those days. The MCU hit a major wall and kind of jumped the shark, so to speak, and started putting quantity over quality when the TV shows began to air.

They were putting out so much content that was all heavily interconnected, making everything feel like a chore for the audience and a huge tax for the creatives working on the projects. Everything suffered. Whether or not the MCU has made it fully out of that era remains to be seen, but they have at least tried to slow down.

Daredevil: Born Again, though, is a trip down memory lane in terms of the speed at which it’s coming out. Season 2 followed Season 1 in incredibly rapid succession, and the latest update on a third season suggests it will go above and beyond for its turnaround, too.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is not out yet. It will return to the screen in March, which still makes for an incredibly short gap between Seasons 1 and 2. Season 1 came out in early March, 2025, and Season 2 is set to air on March 24. In one year, a second season has been put out, essentially.

Season 3 is apparently aiming to cut that down even more. According to ScreenRant, filming for Season 3 is set to get underway before Season 2 is even out. Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and others will reprise their roles for a third time in this reboot on March 6, well before their second run is even on Disney+. Within a year (give or take a couple of days), a third season of the show that first aired is underway.

With this news, Daredevil: Born Again has also set an MCU record. None of the other shows has made it to a third season. Loki remains the only one to have even gotten a second season, and it certainly seems like that one is complete. There was talk of more Moon Knight and maybe more Hawkeye, but nothing’s happened so far. They’ve almost all been one-and-done, even if they weren’t planned explicitly as such.

The original Daredevil show ran for three seasons before it was essentially cancelled and then “revived” on Disney+ in the form of a “continuation” of sorts, Born Again. They’re two separate shows, but the latter pretty much picks up where the former left off. These are all the same characters, actors, and most of the same storylines, too. Either way, if there’s a fourth season, two things will be true.

One, it will be far and away the longest MCU show and surpass its predecessor from the Netflix era. Two, we will likely know about it soon. If Season 3 films before Season 2 begins, then it will probably be out within a year from Season 2, like the first two were, and then news of a fourth beginning filming will probably not be far behind, based on the current track record.

Conclusion

Shows these days don’t last as long as they used to. Netflix is a big culprit here, as they are notorious for cancelling shows really early. Disney isn’t that way, but with an overall lack of interest in the MCU shows aside from a few straggling hits, this is noteworthy. Daredevil: Born Again may not be perfect, but the people yearn for Matt Murdock, and Disney aims to give him to them.
