The San Antonio Spurs cruised to a big-time 138-125 win tonight against the Dallas Mavericks. Their young core has continued to show up and show out, as their second-year shooting guard, Stephon Castle, dominated the game, not only scoring 40 points but also recording his second career triple-double.
Spurs Cruise to a Win

San Antonio played the Dallas Mavericks for the second time in the past two nights, and it wasn’t close in either scenario. Tonight’s game was one of those nights where Stephon Castle was in takeover mode. He finished with a game-high 40 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists. When you have a player explode like that, you are bound to come away with the win.
Reaction
When you don’t need Victor Wembanyama to do Wemby things, it’s a great night. He finished with only 16 points and 11 rebounds on the night. What I found most impressive in the game was Castle’s efficiency. He finished the game shooting 15/19 from the floor, 3/5 from three, and 7/10 from the charity stripe. If this core stays together, they will be the best team in the NBA before we know it.
Final Thoughts
I am fully bought in with the San Antonio Spurs. I believe they have the best core in the league. I believed they could have been in the running for Giannis Antetokounmpo if they had moved some of their young stars. I was wrong. The nucleus of their team is set and they will run the league before we know it.
As always, thank you so much for checking out my thoughts on Stephon Castle propelling the Spurs past the Mavericks. Be sure to check out our other amazing content here at New Leaf News! We hope you’re enjoying your day and look forward to seeing you again soon.
