Just like that, the 2025 NFL season has been concluded. The Seattle Seahawks thoroughly defeated the New England Patriots from the opening kickoff. This was one of the more one-sided Super Bowls I can remember in the last 15 years. Let’s dive into last night’s championship game!
Seahawks’ Defense Reveals The Darkside

The Seahawks would take the opening kickoff and work their way down the field with big plays from tight end AJ Barner and veteran receiver Cooper Kupp. Jason Myers would kick a 33-yard field goal, and the Hawks would take an early lead. This game wasn’t about the Seahawks’ high-flying offense; it was about the stranglehold their defense put on. From start to finish, they proved why they were the best defense in the NFL.
Nicknamed The Dark Side, Seattle’s defense was on full display. In the early goings of the game, the Patriots would have eight drives, eight punts, and seven completions. Mike Macdonald’s defense did what they have done all season long: shut down elite offenses. Their defense got to Drake Maye six times, forced a fumble, and intercepted him twice, including once for a touchdown.
Patriots’ Offensive Struggles

The Patriots’ offense wasn’t just subpar in the Super Bowl; they were well below their season average for the entirety of the postseason. Maye and the offense struggled throughout the night. Until the 4th quarter, New England didn’t have a single snap inside Seattle’s 45-yard line. This team was lighting it up in the regular season and got suffocated in the biggest game of the year.
Through three quarters, they were held to 117 total yards. Now they finished with 374 for the game, but to be starched for 75% of the game is inexcusable. To put it into context, in the regular season, they averaged 278 yards per game. Maye broke the record for most passing yards in a quarter in Super Bowl history with 235 in the 4th, but it’s an empty calorie stat. It doesn’t mean much.
Reaction
Despite most people believing this game was boring, I thought the opposite. This was a defensive battle between two of the NFL’s best. Was Drake hampered in the big game? Yes, but we don’t wanna hear about that after the game. If you are playing in the game, you’re healthy enough to compete. Not that Maye used it in the postgame, but still. Christian Gonzalez had an excellent Super Bowl with multiple diving efforts and pass breakups to keep the game as close as it was.
As skeptical as anyone about Sam Darnold, I was impressed by his performance. Not because he lit up the Patriots’ defense, but because he played one of the cleanest games of his career. He took sacks, didn’t force anything, and took what the defense gave him all night long. Kenneth Walker III would go on to win the MVP of the game with 161 scrimmage yards, 135 rushing, and 26 receiving.
Final Thoughts
It seems like we can blink and it’s the first game of the regular season. Jalen Carter is spitting towards Dak Prescott, and the Eagles begun their title defense. Now we wait until free agency starts, then the draft, and before we know it, the Seahawks will host the opening game of the 2025-2026 NFL season. What were your takeaways from Super Bowl 60?
