One of the best receivers in the NFL could be on the move. The Philadelphia Eagles’ three-time Pro Bowler, AJ Brown, has been one of the names that have been thrown around as one of the players who could be moved this offseason. He has been one of the best players at his position since getting traded to the Eagles back in 2022. Given some off-field antics and a poor rapport with their starting QB, should Philly trade him?
Superstar Since Joining the Eagles

Brown was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans. When he stepped onto the field, he was an instant 1,000-yard receiver. Fast forward three seasons, and he’s traded to the City of Brotherly Love, and his career never looked back. In his first season in the green and white, Brown put up 88 catches, 1,496 yards, and 11 touchdowns. AJ was one of the keys to the franchise getting back to the Super Bowl since 2017. After that first year, his numbers have slowly declined.
In his three seasons in Philly, he has averaged 85 catches, 1,259 yards, and 8 touchdowns. If you ask any wideout in the league, they’d sign up for that season in a heartbeat. The only problem is that when you’re making $32 million a year as a receiver, I can’t afford to pay you that kind of money in a run-first offense, the Eagles have.
He’s had a handful of bad body language moments during games, reading books on the sideline, and even went on a Twitch streamer’s stream to tell them not to start him in fantasy football because of his lack of involvement in the offense. That’s when the rumors that his future with the team is in jeopardy. There were rumblings last offseason and at the trade deadline that he could be traded.
Will AJ Brown Fly Away?

If I were Howie Roseman, I would trade AJ Brown. There was a report from The Athletic’s James Palmer on the Scoop City podcast that an NFL Head Coach laughed at the Eagles’ asking price for Brown. It was reported that Philly wants a “Quinnen Williams-type deal”, a first-round pick, a second-round pick, and more. That would be ludicrous for any team to give up that kind of haul.
However, I believe teams will make solid offers for the two-time Pro Bowler. We just saw the Chiefs trade Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams for a first-round pick, and some. If the best offer on the table is a second-round pick, you take that deal. We’ve seen teams win with diva receivers, but then you must move on, and it’s time for the Eagles to move on from Brown.
What Teams Should Call for Him?
If I were the New England Patriots, I would have called the Eagles yesterday. They just released Stefon Diggs, and they need offensive weapons. Pairing Drake Maye with Brown would be an amazing 1-2 punch. Another team that should call is the Green Bay Packers. Wide receiving cores that have an abundance of twos instead of a one are overrated. Get Jordan Love, one of the most physical players in the league, and contend for an NFC North title.
Final Thoughts
I believe his time with the Eagles has come to an end. After a tough loss to the San Francisco 49ers, changes were needed, and they aren’t moving off Jalen Hurts. They still have DeVonta Smith and solid weapons. What do you think happens to AJ Brown? Do they keep him and hope next year is different with a new OC? Lastly, would you trade him?
As always, thank you so much for checking out my thoughts on whether the Philadelphia Eagles should trade AJ Brown! Be sure to check out our other amazing content here at New Leaf News! We hope you’re enjoying your day and look forward to seeing you again soon.
