Previously, on Jan. 3, 2026, Elon Musk’s treasured Twitter AI, Grok, had overstepped its intended role as informative assistance. However, the unfortunate reality for xAI’s artificial intelligence is that it follows the path set by its competitors to replicate user behavior and generate images.
The world grew alarmed by the social media platform after discovering multiple women and children having their likeness used for sexual abuse material. The European Commission immediately acted to address the issue involving Musk’s moderators, but the deepfakes continued. As of Feb. 3, the French cybercrime unit discovered 3 million deepfakes, including 23,000 minors, in January.
Musk and Twitter’s former chief executive, Linda Yaccarino, are to be summoned to the European Court this spring. The SpaceX CEO’s situation has escalated in the United States as three Tennessee teenagers have declared to sue him for his CSAM deepfake.
Discord Cops Traced xAI CSAM from December 2025
According to Ars Technica, an anonymous Discord user gave a tip to law enforcement on where to find the first confirmed generated CSAM image by xAI. Investigators uncovered explicit deepfakes of young girls by the perpetrator. The unnamed assailant uses their channel to distribute the illegally generated images as a Telegram bartering tool for other pedophiles.
The first Tennessee victim, who’s now 18, received the tip back in December 2025. She received the folder and a channel link from the anonymous tipper. After examining the photos, she recognized that the AI had captured her likeness and, most disturbingly, some of her classmates among the 18 affected minors.
Tennessee police were notified by the first victim, leading to a criminal investigation. They deduced that the bad actor accessed her Instagram profile. He informed in the filed complaint that he maintained a “close and friendly relationship” with the first victim. They then identified that he was using a third-party generative app that is under the license of xAI, the company that helped Musk develop Grok.
Due to the perpetrator’s actions, the affected teenage girls are going through mental and emotional distress. One victim fears that the CSAM deepfakes will affect her college admission, while another is afraid to attend their graduation.
Why are France and the Tennessee Cases Vital?

Lawmakers worldwide recognized an ever-growing epidemic of illegally generated pornography in late 2025. Brazilian journalist Sofia Schurig reported that the Pulitzer Center found more than 3,000 CSAM images, with a majority created by Stable Diffusion.
Because these AI programs are becoming more open-sourced, they have high user activity. Schurig’s team has categorized these large learning models under nudifiers, the AI in charge of removing clothing, and pornographic generators, the AI trained to create adult content.
And when everyone learned about Musk’s involvement with the late Jeffrey Epstein on Jan. 30, lawmakers had firm ground to advance bills against xAI and its competing developers. For example, Alaska brought a case to Congress, which passed it by unanimous vote of the House Judiciary Committee. House Bill 47 drafted violations against any AI forgeries, including CSAM and teaching certificates.
Alaskan Representative Sarah Vance sought to use the act after an incident involving a US Army soldier who was caught creating AI-generated images of sexually abused minors in 2024. Unfortunately for the state, it lacked a statute addressing these issues and therefore had to rely on federal prosecution.
The investigation into Musk’s xAI goes even further because he published Grok as Twitter’s AI, granting public access for anyone to use it for any purpose. What’s even more frightening is that a majority of the generated CSAM cases are being uncovered across the United States.
In Florida’s Marion County, resident David Rutter was charged with four counts of AI-generated CSAM possession since Jan. 15, 2026. The MSCO identified him as the suspect responsible for distributing 257 deepfakes, including child celebrities. And with Tennessee joining the suit against xAI, we hope to see the affected girls shed light on this crisis.
