Sam Burns, Raising Cane's

PGA Tour superstar Sam Burns (ranked 33rd in the entire world) is about to make his next start this week at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. Before that, though, he stopped by the local Raising Cane’s to talk with founder Todd Graves and do a meet-and-greet with some lucky fans.

Burns is coming off a few impressive outings recently. He tied for 13th at the Players Championship (golf’s fifth unofficial Major tournament), and he had a top-six finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which is an elevated Signature Event.

He could be about to embark on a hot streak, but before that, he wanted to meet some fans and discuss his season, Raising Cane’s, and more.

If you happened to go by the Houston Raising Cane’s on Westheimer Rd on Tuesday, you might’ve run into PGA Tour golfer Sam Burns. The golf star signed golf balls, met with fans, and even served some people their chicken through the Drive-Thru and front counter.

After, he spoke with the media about a lot of things, including the rest of the season. “I’m excited for this season. We always have a great turnout with fans and I’m looking forward to being back and getting out there this year,” said Burns. “It’s been an up and down season, but I feel like my game is trending in the right direction.”

The Tour star also emphasized wanted to get into a comfortable rhythm on the golf course ahead of a key competition like the Texas Children’s Houston Open. “In terms of preparation for these tournaments, we usually get here early in the week, learn the course and make sure everything is ready for Thursday,” said Burns. “I went out and played the course earlier and it’s in great shape. I’m excited to get out there.”

Burns was in town early to prepare for the tournament, and that also allowed him to stop by the Raising Cane’s to deliver an unforgettable memory for fans and employees alike. In doing so, he got to reconnect with Todd Graves, with whom he shares a background of sorts.

Graves grew up in Louisiana, and that’s where the first Cane’s was established. It’s since become one of the biggest restaurant chains in the entire world, but home will always be Louisiana. That’s also where Burns went to college (LSU) and met Graves initially. The two have had a long-standing friendship ever since.

Burns admitted that he wants to start his week before a tournament with some good chicken. “We play a long schedule all year, so it always helps starting the week out with some Cane’s — I’m from Louisiana so it’s in my DNA,” he added. “Todd and I have a great friendship and it’s amazing to see what he’s built and how much they give back to the Community. It’s a huge honor to partner with Cane’s.”

Graves has been along for the ride as Burns has gone from college star to a top-ranked golfer on the biggest Tour in the world. “Sam and I met when he was playing for LSU and have been friends ever since. He’s a true Caniac, and we always have fun together,” said Graves. “I’ve enjoyed cheering him on throughout the years and am proud of all that he’s accomplished. I’m looking forward to watching him compete this weekend.”

The 18th Hole

Sam Burns will tee off this weekend on Thursday at 8:53 am ET. He’ll face off with some of the best golfers in the world, including Will Zalatoris, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Brooks Koepka, and Chris Gotterup (although world number one Scottie Scheffler withdrew). But before that, the golfer made sure to stop at Raising Cane’s for an unforgettable experience.
