Today, the Minnesota Twins lost their first game of many they will lose this season. But their crosstown Triple-A affiliate, the St. Paul Saints, offers a summer of fun, food, and future stars for their fans who make a trip to CHS Field this season. Founded by the irrepressible Mike Veeck, the Saints continue their “Fun is Good” theme to this day.
Fans can look forward to the zany promotions that have entertained folks since the Saints started playing ball in Midway Stadium in 1993. Also, over the years, they’ve added top-notch, world-class cuisine to their ballpark menu to satiate their fans’ appetites. And this year may be the most exciting in team history. Because the Saints roster is full of most of the Twins’ future stars. But you’d better come quickly. They might be playing across town at Target Field in a matter of months.
The Saints’ Fun Promotions Return to CHS Field
Saints baseball is always synonymous with laughter and entertainment. And this year’s promotions do not disappoint. Take Tuesday, April 28. It’s Education Day, so the team will give you a hall pass to skip work to attend their 11:07 am game against the Iowa Cubs. On Saturday, May 23, for a game against the Omaha Storm Chasers, bring your favorite canine as it’s the first Dog Day of the Year.
Celebrate your “island side” on Thursday, June 4, against the Indianapolis Indians as the Saints celebrate Jimmy Buffett on Margaritaville Night. On Thursday, July 23, against the Columbus Clippers, go back to the “Roaring Twenties” for Ghostly Gangsters Night and relive when St. Paul was home to some of the most famous gangsters in America. And get artful on Sunday, August 9, when the Sants take on the Louisville Bats for Artsy Fartsy Day.
The Cuisine at CHS Field is the Best
Once a year, the Saints invite members of the media for lunch to taste the team’s new food items. And their offerings were mouthwateringly delicious as usual. They did feature one of their returning items: their signature, The Land of 10,000 Calories.
This monstrosity consists of six feet of footlong hot dog topped with smoked pulled pork, creamy mac and cheese, bacon, and jalapenos, served with our signature crispy French Fries, jalapeño poppers, and four 20-ounce beverages. Don’t worry, you can also order their one-foot variety.
Other items included a SPAM Dog, a Hot Pastrami Sandwich, and three new pizzas, including a Pickled Pizza. They are also introducing three new hamburgers and a cherry tomato-wrapped brat. But my hands-down favorites were new menu items from one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, El Burrito Mercado.
They serve up a Takis Bowl, a burrito bowl filled with rice, cabbage, black beans, and either takis, carne asada, pastor, or carnitas. Along with that, they offer one of the top three best Tres Leches Cakes I have ever tasted.
Saints Will Showcase Top Twins Prospects in 2026
The creme de la creme of the Minnesota Twins prospects will call CHS Field home this summer. Four top 100 overall prospects and nine of the top 30 Twins prospects will wear the Saints uniform this season. This list is led by outfielder Walter Jenkins, the top Minnesota prospect and fifth-ranked overall by Baseball America. Following closely behind are outfielder Emmanuel Rodriguez (#2, #57), shortstop Kalen Culpepper (#3, #74), and LHP Connor Prielipp (#4, #94).
In the next group are LHP Kenny Rojas (#8-rated Twins prospect), outfielder Gabby Gonzalez (#10), RHP Andrew Morris (#13), RHP Marco Raya (#21), and RHP John Klein (#24). Expect to see other franchises’ top prospects come to CHS Field, as well as any Twins coming off the injured list who may require a Triple-A tuneup game or two.
All I can say is, “Play Ball.”
