Trump

Donald Trump returned to the White House in 2025 after defeating Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election. One would think this victory would have brought great joy to the president, as he squashed those who left him for dead politically in 2020. And it seemed for a while he was happy as he illegally dismantled Congressionally funded agencies and sent his ICE goons out to kill and injure innocent Americans. But times have changed, as his failed policies have left his job approval ratings in the toilet.

So, what does he turn to? The factually proven lie that the 2020 Election was stolen from him. Even after all of the machine recounts, hand recounts, audits, lawsuits, etc., Trump clings to this delusional electoral deceit. He does this partially to cast aspersions on the safety and security of the 2026 Midterm Elections. So much so that he will make a televised speech about new revelations regarding the supposed chicanery that took place when he lost the election to Joe Biden four years ago.

Trump’s Devious Ways

First of all, the theme and content of the speech are a headscratcher. With the U.S. engaged in a never-ending war with Iran, skyrocketing prices on food, gas, and housing, and ICE once again senselessly murdering innocent people, you would think that Mr. Trump would desire to discuss with the American people his plans on how to solve these complex issues. But it’s not the Trump way. He is obsessed with his “pet projects” and will go to great lengths to keep bad news (Epstein files) out of the headlines.

This has been a continual pattern throughout his second term. When someone asks about the economy, Iran, or ICE, Mr. Trump talks glowingly about ballrooms, reflecting pools, mall arches, and the UFC. He has attempted at every turn to stem the frustration that people are expressing about his unfair policies. In an effort to help Republicans retain control of the House and Senate, he and his henchman have attempted to enact legislation and make legal decisions geared toward disenfranchising voters.

Election Suppression

It started last year with his push to persuade states to set up new Congressional districts skewed toward creating more Republican-leaning districts. Next, he had his conservative friends at the Supreme Court suck all of the life out of the Voting Rights Act, which was a key component of addressing disenfranchisement within BIPOC communities. Now he is fixated on his Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act or Save America Act.

Despite its name. The legislation would actually lead to the loss of voting rights for an estimated 20 million Americans, mostly the elderly, poor, and persons of color. Trump lives in everyday fear of a Democratic-led Congress that would not only put the brakes on his unpopular policy agenda but also hold him accountable for the illegal profits he and his family have earned during his second term.

The Real Story

Don’t be fooled by the president’s argument that our voting systems are corrupt and unsecure.  Trump and his cohorts lost over 60 lawsuits related to the 2020 Election, coming away with only minor victories that did not affect the outcome of the election. At the beginning of 2018, Trump disbanded his Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity less than seven months after its formation.

Why?  Because they uncovered no evidence to support claims of widespread voter fraud. Taking the “swing state” of Arizona as an example, the Brookings Institution found that the percentage of fraudulent votes in Arizona over the last 25 years of elections was a minuscule .0000845%. And no election outcome in the U.S. has ever been altered by ballot fraud.

There has also been no evidence of foreign manipulation of vote counts in recent U.S. elections. There has been meddling by countries such as Russia, but no direct interference with the tallying of votes.

Tonight

So, tonight, when the man behind the curtain says to be very afraid about election security in this country, consider the source. The only group of people who are trying to steal votes in 2026 is the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and his stooges.
