The Golden State Warriors are bringing back one of the franchise’s pillars after missing out on the LeBron James sweepstakes, Draymond Green. The four-time NBA Champion was a free agent and holding out on hopes the franchise would be able to land the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer. After failing to do so, it was time Draymond would return to the only organization he’s ever known. What does this mean for the Warriors?
Green Returns to the Warriors

Draymond Green is returning to the Bay Area on a one-year $27.7 million contract. As he and Steph Curry are the remaining members of the Warriors Dynasty, it’s great to see him return to the franchise he’s called home since 2012-2013. Green is coming off a season where he played in 68 games and averaged 8.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, and 5.5 apg while having 41.8/32.6/70.2 shooting splits. We know his value goes beyond the box score and counting numbers.
Reaction to the Contract
I believe that paying Draymond Green $27.7 million in the year 2026 is ridiculous. After missing out on LeBron, we all knew he was heading back to the Warriors; the only question was for how much. It’s apparent that the Golden State doesn’t have any interest in competing for anything more than the play-in this upcoming campaign. What is noteworthy is that this deal doesn’t have a no trade clause despite being eligible for one.
Final Thoughts
The possibility that he is moved at the trade deadline is real. What team would be interested in a 35-year-old offensive liability is up in the air. Golden State’s roster is subpar and aging, the two things you don’t want to be in the NBA. What was your reaction to the Warriors bringing Green back on the $27.7 million contract? What are your expectations for the team this season?
