There have been four Spider-Man movies in the MCU, and they’ve managed to use a ton of his most notable rogues. Aside from Batman (and even that is arguable), no one has a better rogues gallery than Spidey. He faces off with the most iconic villains time and again, though repeat villains in live-action adaptations are fairly uncommon.

Through the four movies, we’ve seen Mysterio, Vulture, Green Goblin, Sandman, Lizard, Doc Ock, and Electro all take starring antagonist roles in Spider-Man films. That’s a lot, which is why Brand New Day took a unique approach with a different Marvel character usually unrelated to Spider-Man that isn’t always antagonistic.

That still leaves very little remaining for the upcoming Spider-Man movies, which we can assume there will be a ton since Brand New Day has grossed over $900 million in roughly five days of being out. There are still villains to be used, though, and some could repeat under the right circumstances.

The Spider-Man Villains the MCU Can Still Use

Green Goblin/Doc Ock/Sandman/Lizard/Electro

It would be utterly fascinating to watch Peter Parker try to deal with the typical relationship with one of the above-named villains while knowing they likely become a villain. Let’s say he meets Otto Octavius or befriends Harry Osborn in his universe, all while knowing Octavius and Norman Osborn are destined to become villains.

This formula can be used for any of the No Way Home villains since they weren’t connected to him, but it can only be used once. The knowledge that these people who all come into his life in some meaningful way are meant to turn bad would be such an interesting burden to see an adult Spider-Man deal with, but it can’t be overdone for all of them.

Venom

So much for the post-credits teaser with Venom. We still have yet to see anything with the symbiote in the MCU, really. What would be truly incredible is reversing the order. Instead of the symbiote attaching to Peter Parker before he ultimately rejects it and sends it scurrying to Eddie Brock, reverse the order.

Let Spider-Man fight Venom and come up with a way to defeat him before some of the symbiote survives and attaches to a Peter as the new host. Then, it would make his struggles with what the symbiote is doing to him and how it’s corrupting him even more impactful since he knows what it can do to people from seeing what it did to Eddie.

Carnage

Carnage would have to be the immediate follow-up to Venom, and if they do the laid-out plot that I have so graciously provided, they’ll have to get creative. Either way, Carnage is the offspring of Venom, and he’s even more vicious and brutal.

There is absolutely a risk of being repetitive by using a violent symbiote and then another violent symbiote. However, Carnage and Venom are two different characters, and Carnage is a fun enough villain to justify taking that risk.

Kingpin

Kingpin is technically a Daredevil villain, and one that’s kind of run its course in the MCU. However, Spider-Man and Kingpin face off plenty. Just ask the 1990s cartoon and the 2018 Insomniac game, both of which feature the Kingpin as a Spidey antagonist.

This would be an amazing way to get a Spidey-Daredevil team-up, but after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, it seems highly likely that the MCU’s version of Kingpin is done. He appears to be leaving New York, and Vincent D’Onofrio is probably done playing him, so that ship has likely sailed.

Scorpion

Scorpion has technically been used twice, but never in a starring role. He’s a minor antagonist in Homecoming, and he reappears as Scorpion instead of just a criminal in Brand New Day. But he’s quickly dispatched twice and used only by the villain who is purposefully being left vague in the marketing.

He’s not one of the top-tier villains, but anyone who’s spent some runs in the comics being included in the Sinister Six is capable of holding down the fort. And with all the shared history between Peter and Scorpion now, it could be interesting to revisit this.

Mister Negative

Mister Negative hasn’t been used at all yet, and perhaps he’s better suited as a Miles Morales villain. Either way, he’s pretty notable and pretty powerful, with a fun power set that would be awesome to see translated into the MCU.

Plus, as a Miles Morales antagonist, this hypothetical movie with Mister Negative could be a good way of either introducing Miles or passing the torch from Peter to Miles, which is going to happen at some point. And speaking of…

The Prowler

The Prowler was also featured in Homecoming, which even referenced Miles Morales. He wasn’t in costume and was only barely included. The groundwork, like with Scorpion, was obviously laid, though, and the MCU would do well to keep tying back to the loose threads.

So, the MCU has two good options for introducing Miles Morales and passing the torch to him, with the Prowler and Mister Negative being worthwhile villains to do so. They would probably need to switch up the story, though, in order to avoid repeating the plot of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Kraven the Hunter

Aside from the ill-fated conclusion to Sony’s ill-fated Spider-Man villains universe, Kraven the Hunter has been totally ignored. He’d be a fantastic inclusion for the MCU, and since he’s been totally untouched, it would be something brand new.

And it would be a perfect follow-up to Brand New Day. In that movie, Peter is dealing with an evolving Spider DNA that causes some issues. Kraven the Hunter would be a perfect villain to introduce as that Spider DNA continues to mutate, even if Peter has finally learned not to try to suppress it.

Chameleon

Chameleon is Kraven the Hunter’s brother, so he could be the follow-up villain. His inclusion could also be the perfect way to incorporate some of these villains that otherwise wouldn’t make the cut. Chameleon can simply impersonate them to throw Spider-Man off the trail.

Plus, it could be hugely emotional for Peter Parker to see Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, Michael Keaton’s Vulture, or Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock again after having forged relationships with them.

Hobgoblin

Unlike Green Goblin, the Hobgoblin has really never been featured in live action despite some hints. While it would be bafflingly cruel to have Ned Leeds turn into the Hobgoblin as so many have theorized, the villain absolutely needs to make it into the MCU.

This might be better than using an MCU version of Norman or Harry Osborn because it would introduce a similar type of antagonist but one Peter doesn’t know and hasn’t been seen in the MCU or any live-action movies before. It would be familiar but totally new.

The MCU has used a lot of the biggest villains, and some of these mentioned don’t classify as his top-tier bad guys. However, there are still a lot of useful, iconic villains for Spider-Man to face off with, and there are plenty of clever ways to get them involved.
