We learned a lot from Patrick Clancy’s interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday, September 20, 2026, but we also learned nothing. Many are disappointed with the interview’s substance and believe it could have been released as an email. 

One bothersome point for viewers was the presence of Clancy’s new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, who said the two are starting a family of their own.

Patrick Clancy and New Wife Start a Life

Three years after Lindsay Clancy allegedly killed her and her then-husband’s three young children–Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8-months–the grieving father has admitted he is “starting a family” when CBS’s Ross Douthat asked during his 60 Minutes interview.

The interview was the first time since Lindsay’s trial that Patrick has appeared in the public eye, and his first time speaking out about what happened, aside from his testimony against his former wife. 

Patrick and his current wife, Danis, were confirmed to be dating around April 2024, although many viewers of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial suspected he had been having a long-term affair with the reproductive specialist for years before the murders took place. The two recently married in April 2026, and again, those same internet sleuths believe they married just in time for the trial to start. 

Patrick and Danis live together on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a far cry from Patrick’s former living arrangements in Duxbury, Massachusetts. It only seemed natural for him to start a new life outside of the confines where he found that his three children were murdered in 2023. 

Lack of Criminal Responsibility

Lindsay Clancy was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of their children, but pleaded not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility. She allegedly admitted to the killings while in the hospital facing the aftermath, and to her then-husband, who found her outside of the home the evening of January 24, 2023. 

Lindsay claimed she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings and reported that she was heavily medicated. The highly publicized trial did not bring the closure that everyone longed for, though. It ended in a mistrial after the jury deadlocked 11-1 in her favor, but alas, it had to be unanimous. 

Lindsay attempted to take her own life after allegedly using exercise bands to strangle her children in the basement of their family home. She cut her wrists and jumped out of a second-story window. Her then-husband, who she had sent out for take-out food and medicine for their child, returned home to a quiet and empty home.

Patrick found Lindsay in their backyard, severely injured, and barely moving. He struggled to call 911, saying his phone kept bouncing between Wi-Fi and cellular service, even though, according to his statement at a different point in his testimony, their Wi-Fi had been out all day. 

While on the phone with 911, Lindsay can be heard making soft gurgling noises in the background, none coherent, but Patrick told the operators that she admitted where the children were and that she told him she killed them. He found them in the basement, unconscious, and waited for first responders to arrive.

Patrick Clancy Forgave His Former Wife

Jurors were forced to listen to the harrowing 911 call several times throughout trial. Patrick also testified inconsistently for the prosecution, but he appeared visibly distressed when speaking about his children. He said that he forgives Lindsay for what she allegedly did.

Patrick recalled speaking with his former wife after the killings. “I asked her if she remembered it,” he said. “She said it was like a dream and she remembered much in the way you would remember a dream after waking up.”

Douthat also asked Patrick whether he felt he had failed Lindsay or his children. “I think I did the best I could with what I had at the time and I live with the outcome,” Patrick answered. “I live with it every day.”

When asked if Lindsay asked for his forgiveness, he replied, “No, but I gave it to her.”
