Intro: The New York Yankees are looking to complete the three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers in this game. In Game Two, Jasson Dominguez hit a walk-off solo homer run to win the game 4-3. This game should be a pitching show. Carlos Rodon is for the Yankees, and Nathan Eovaldi is for the Rangers. Both have had success against the other team. Crucial Stats
Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers need to play some good baseball. They have lost four of their last five, including that heartbreaking loss last night. With a record of 25-25, they sit in 3rd place in the AL West. Offensively, Texas has been one of the worst teams all season. They rank 27th in runs, 26th in OPS, 26th in BA, 24th in TB, and 11th in HRs. Over their last ten games, the Rangers have a record of 6-4, including an 8-15 record on the road.
However, defensively, they are one of the best teams in the MLB. Texas ranks 4th in runs allowed, 2nd in OPSA, 4th in BAA, 3rd in TBA, and 2nd in errors. Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for the Rangers this afternoon. He has had a career year at 35, which has been remarkable. Eovaldi has a 4-2 record in his 10 starts, a 1.61 ERA, 65 Ks, and a .179 BAA. To keep it short, he’s been dominant.
Corey Seager is still out with his hamstring injury that has kept him out since May 10th. When healthy, he is one of the best Shortstops in the league. Center Fielder Evan Carter is also out with a right quad strain. Going against Rodon this afternoon will be difficult, but to avoid going under .500, Texas must show up.
New York Yankees
The New York Yankees are on a bit of a hot streak, winning five of their last six games, including Game One and Game Two of this series. With a record of 29-19, the Yankees sit in 1st place in the AL East. New York has been one of, if not the best, offensive teams in the MLB. They rank 3rd in runs, 1st in OPS, 5th in BA, 3rd in TB, and 1st in HRs. Over their last ten games, New York has a record of 7-3, including a 17-9 home record.
Defensively, the Yankees are a dominant team. They rank 7th in runs allowed, 1st in OPSA, 1st in BAA, 1st in TBA, and 11th in errors. LHP Carlos Rodon will take the mound for the Yankees. Rodon is having a fantastic season. He has a record of 5-3 in his ten starts, a 3.17 ERA, 72 Ks, and a .167 ABB. The 32-year-old has pitched into the 5th inning in all but one start.
In regards to injuries, Jazz Chisholm Jr. remains out with his oblique strain. After making the World Series last season, New York have put themselves in a great situation to be the top seed again. As mentioned, they have a record of 29-19 which is 2nd place in the whole American League, only trailing the Detroit Tigers.
Prediction
The New York Yankees will win this game, complete the sweep, and cover the 1.5-run line over the Texas Rangers. Regularly, you take the runs in a pitching battle this good. However, I am putting my faith and cash on the Yankees pulling away late. New York pitches a gem, dominates the Rangers’ bullpen, and cruises to a multi-run win!
Who Ya Got???
New York Yankees -1.5 (+140)
