Crucial Stats

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a nice win at home last week against the Chicago Bears, 30-16. The offense got rolling after the first quarter and should be returning to form. B-More is getting its MVP QB back, Lamar Jackson, who missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. The spark that he will bring with his presence on the field will be instantaneous.

Let’s look at their defense. The Ravens haven’t looked like “The Ravens” in some time now. They rank 30th in OPPG, 28th in OPYDs, 23rd in ORUYDs, 27th in offensive touchdowns, 30th in sacks, and 30th in takeaways per game. There haven’t been any new injuries added to the injury report. Despite all the bruises the Dolphins have suffered on the offensive side of the ball, this defense must hold Tua Tagovailoa in check if they want to leave Miami with a win.

For someone who didn’t have much faith in Miami last week vs the Falcons, I was highly impressed with their 34-10 win. Their offense was virtually unstoppable. Scoring a season high against a team that just shut down the reigning MVP was shocking to me. Tua was sensational with 20/26 passing for 205 yards and four TDs. That was his best performance of the season by far.

Here is where Miami has most of its problems: its defense. They rank 26th in OPPG, 11th in OPYDs, 28th in ORUYDs, 25th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 24th in sacks, and 22nd in takeaways per game. In terms of injuries, Bradley Chubb and Ifeatu Melifonwu are listed as questionable with a foot/shoulder injury, while Ashtyn Davis is listed as doubtful.

Keys to Victory

Derrick Henry, Baltimore Ravens, NFL

For the Ravens, it’s very simple. You give the ball to Derrick Henry. That’s it. I would not expect the Dolphins to play as well as they did last week against Bijan Robinson. They are ranked 28th in rushing yards allowed per game for a reason. Just look at their history against run-heavy teams, the Chargers and Browns. Miami gave up Kimani Vidal to rush for 124 yards and a touchdown, then Quinshon Judkins to go for 84 yards and three touchdowns.

Now let’s turn to the Dolphins. Their singular key to victory is through their offense. If they can keep Tua upright, they should keep this game close. With Baltimore only tallying nine sacks on the season, he should have time to find his targets. We tackled the passing attack. Let’s look at the ground game. Miami’s rushing attack would be used to keep ‘Action Jackson’ on the sideline, but it can still be effective. De’Von Achane has rushed for 67+ yards in four of his last five games, including 82 or more in three of his previous five.

Prediction

The Baltimore Ravens are going to cruise to a comfortable win over the Miami Dolphins. Last week’s game was an anomaly for the Dolphins. Holding Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons to 45 yards rushing is not replicable against this team. Baltimore’s defense is getting healthier and playing better over the last two games as well. Lastly, the positive bump of having their best player return to the field will ooze confidence within the organization. The Ravens win on the road and beat the Dolphins big on TNF.
