The Los Angeles Clippers have been in the selling market these past few days. First, they traded James Harden to the Cavaliers; now they are sending their starting center to the Indiana Pacers. Indy is sending talented forward Bennedict Mathurin in the trade, a key piece for their success over the past few seasons. Here are the full trade details:

Indiana Pacers

  • SF/SG – Bennedict Mathurin
  • C – Isaiah Jackson
  • Two First Round Picks
  • Second Round Picks

Reaction

For the Clips, they maximized the assets the organization could get in return for a big man who averages a double-double. Getting a young, talented forward like Mathurin is a great addition, as he has continued to increase his scoring average and still has insane upside. Remember, he’s only 23. Overall, I think the Pacers won’t be able to see the full potential of this deal until Tyrese Haliburton returns next season.

Final Thoughts

I love the players that were the centerpieces in this deal. Do I think the Pacers overpaid for Zubac? Yes. A 23-year-old athletic forward who has gotten better every season he’s been an NBA player, and two first-round picks, is very steep. What do you make of the trade? Does this move the needle for either franchises or is this a lateral move?
