It’s been a long time coming since the Seattle Seahawks made their last Super Bowl. For the first time since 2015, they have an opportunity to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. This is the culmination of a season in which many doubted their team and their quarterback as serious contenders in the NFC. They are the last team standing from the conference, and let’s dive into what a win tonight would mean for the team!
Seahawks’ Legion of Doom?

The biggest reason Seattle dominated the 2010s was its defense. They were nicknamed the “Legion of Boom” for a reason. It seems as if this franchise, like other organizations, like the Steelers, goes as their defense goes. This iteration of their dominant defense isn’t because they have all pros and potential Hall of Famers at every level.
Their energy resembles that of a college team that flies around the field and loves to hit everything that moves. The definition of “See Ball Get Ball.” Devon Witherspoon was a home run pick when the team selected him 5th overall in the NFL Draft just three seasons ago. A win thrusts this defense into the mix with some of the best defenses in the modern era, assuming they don’t get lit up in the Super Bowl.
Sam Darnold, The Newest Ghostbuster

Sam Darnold has had a strange journey before finding his home with the Seahawks. From being selected 3rd overall in the 2018 draft by the New York Jets to being traded and released to walking in free agency, it appears he has found a franchise to call home. What does a Super Bowl win mean for him? He enters the club of being a high-end tier two quarterback and shakes off the “Darnold Melts Down” discussions.
After having an MVP-level season last year, some were ready to sweep his terrible history under the rug. In the playoffs, he melted down and was awful against the Rams while with the Vikings. The doubters came rushing back to slander him. This season, he’s been great in the majority of games and will be a borderline top-ten QB next season if he plays well and they win tonights.
Mike Macdonald Enters Top-5 Coaches

We know the stigma around defensive-minded head coaches. You think of the young geniuses of the NFL, the Sean McVays or the Kyle Shanahans of the league. What if there was a young excellent head coach in the NFC who is like McVay and Shanahan, but on the opposite side of the ball?
That is what Mike Macdonald is and has been since becoming the Seahawks’ Head Coach. He has turned this franchise into a juggernaut, and for someone who loves defense, I love it. This is a reminder that pairing a great offensive coordinator with a great defensive head coach can make magic! I believe if they finish the job tonight, it will propel Macdonald into the top five of coaches in the NFL.
Final Thoughts
Lastly, I wanted to highlight Cooper Kupp. From being dumped by the Rams to beating them in the NFC Championship and winning a title with his hometown team would be a storybook ending to his season. A win tonight would be the Seahawks’ second Super Bowl win in franchise history. What do you think a win tonight would mean for Seattle’s organization?
