In a shocking turn of events, the Baltimore Ravens are backing out of the Maxx Crosby trade. Just 24 hours ago, Baltimore appeared to be, at least on paper, the top dogs in the AFC. Their biggest issue from last season was solved, and everything was going to be peachy. Why did they back out of the trade? Let’s dive into it!
Ravens Back Out for Crosby

Just as it appeared, the Ravens’ problems of last year were solved, the unthinkable happened. In 2025, Baltimore was 28th in sacks with 30 on the season. Four days ago, they traded for superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders for two first-round picks. This evening, Vegas announced that the Ravens were backing out of the trade. Senior NFL insider for The Athletic, Dianna Russini, reported that it was due to Crosby failing his physical exam.
What Does This Mean?
For Baltimore, they need to address the “loss” of Crosby. With him not playing a single snap, it’s hard to miss what you didn’t technically have. However, the idea was that he would be the dominant player he has been throughout his NFL career.
As for the Raiders, this puts them in a bind. The amount of money they spent over the past few days before free agency will affect the deals they agreed to and their salary cap. The organization was operating as if it had the extra $30 million off the books from trading Mad Maxx. Now, they will likely trade him and not get as much of a return for the five-time Pro Bowler.
Final Thoughts
NFL free agency isn’t officially underway until tomorrow, but there have already been so many moves and deals agreed to. What do you make of the Ravens backing out of the deal? Does this affect Baltimore or the Raiders more? Lastly, where does Mad Maxx play next season?
